Wow... what a game! That game moved up into my top 5 from over the years. This game felt like a coming together. Such heart, such will.. This is one of those "We choose to win PERIOD!" games. We had 3 end of quarter last second shots. Michael Dougherty hit 2 of them, one to tie the game at the end of the 4th quarter. Jayson Holt hit one at the and of the 2nd. Clay Whitman had a huge steal and then a beautiful 3pt shot to take the lead by 2 in the overtime. They fouled jo B after our team inbounded the ball. Jo B wan put a big smile on his face. Beaver called a time out to try to ice him. He went to the line and drained both of them. We let the other team shoot wherever they wanted tobecause we were ahead 4. They drained a 3 at the buzzer but game was over! What a game. Beaver shot %56 from the field and some of their kids were 5 for 5 and 5 for 6 from the field. Statistically it would be hard to see how they lost. Our team just would not lay down!!!
I was so proud of the whole team, every last one of them... Weather on the bench or the table, the camera, the crowd everyone was on the floor giving their best the whole game. The student and community support was awesome.
"In basketball--as in life--true joy comes from being fully present in each and every moment, not just when things are going your way. Of course, it's no accident that things are more likely to go your way when you stop worrying about whether you're going to win or lose and focus your full attention on what's happening right this moment." -Phil Jackson-
Happy Happy Birthday Captain Michael Dougherty!!!
