One For the Ages.... Wolves Beat Beavah in Beavah... Sweet!

This was another classic showdown vs. Beaver. It was a great game, great crowd etc. It was so exciting to see our guys just work hard. They wanted it... You could see they wanted. The second half was the the best half court game i've ever seen them play. They were patient, disciplined and executed well.  Especially in the second half, the work done away from the ball was what won this game.  The unseen, unheralded business of just plain working to create openings on offense and taking care to watch and give help on Defense (the 1 on 5 concept) and work to get rebounds on both ends.  Each player executed wherever they were. Floor or bench etc. I was thinking today how it really is just great for these guys. To be able to play the game, to have coaches and crowds of family and community who love them and support them. I hope they get by now that the team concept the 'work away from the ball' is the key in the game and in life. They do seem to appreciate that every role is absolutely integral to the outcome. Every part away from the ball in every possession counts. Weather on the bench, from home, the crowd and community.... It all matters. Every part counts.  In 6 months time many of our seniors may be in third world countries meeting up with kids who haven't had the same opportunities, a chance 'to play' in a sense. Maybe you could say the unheralded who must create something out of nothing if they are to have anything at all. A dirt court, a rocky field and whatever ball they can find.  Our boys will help them know their value, that they are important and 'in the game' that who they are and what they do matters, it counts..... It was a great night!

ps. we had to do some retro pic shades for this game....;)
