Last night was a tough loss because we could have and should have beat Beaver. Our guys hustled and worked hard as usual, but we struggled with the easy layup and our free throws. We had 18 points in the paint that we missed and we were 5 for 15 from the line. Some of those were front ends of one and one's. There in itself is the difference and more than the deficit of our loss.
I know our boys are frustrated. They are executing and we are getting the shots we need and want and we are having trouble finishing. The discipline of the finality's of the last moment as we shoot. Are we having the goal, the hoop, clear in our focus or is that a blur and is the defense before us what is clear? We need the goal to be clear in that nano second that ends the play, not the hand or the body in front of us or anything else. The score is the goal.
Coach Kyle reminded us of an important John Wooden quote. "Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be."
I know our boys can beat these guys. I believe in them and know if they can get the goal to be clear and in focus and finish every possession with that focus they can do it. They can win.
If you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything. I'm positive that a doer makes mistakes. -John Wooden-
They'll keep at it. Our boys are doers! We'll get it.
